Susquehanna Steam Electric Station Hosts Annual Golf Tournament and Sporting Clay Fundraisers, Raises Over $97,000 for Berwick Area United Way

Berwick, Pa. (October 4, 2022) -As part of its commitment to supporting the community in which it operates, Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (Susquehanna) announced today that it recently donated over $97,000 to the Berwick Area United Way. Susquehanna raised the funds through its 12th annual Susquehanna/United Way Charity Golf Tournament and 4th annual Susquehanna/United Way Sporting Clay and Trap Shoot fundraiser events. Collectively, Susquehanna has raised nearly $1,000,000 for the Berwick Area United Way through these events since their inception. These funds are in addition to those raised via Susquehanna’s annual United Way employee giving campaign.

“Susquehanna Station is proud to support the Berwick Area United Way through our annual charity golf tournament and sporting clay and trap shoot event,” said senior vice president and Chief Nuclear Officer Brad Berryman. “We are grateful to all the volunteers and sponsors who helped to raise much-needed funds for our community, especially Kip McCabe, senior project manager, who again served as golf tournament Chairperson, and Joey Alba, Electrical Maintenance superintendent, who chaired the sporting clay and trap shoot fundraiser event. Our thanks also extend to our committee members and vendor partners for their participation and support.”

Susquehanna employees organize and participate in these annual events to raise funds for the many local programs and agencies that the Berwick Area United Way supports. Susquehanna’s vendors and key partners also participate in and help sponsor the events, and this year, vendors constructing Talen Energy’s Cumulus data center campus adjacent to Susquehanna also joined and supported the events.

“Susquehanna’s support of the community this year and over the past decade has been incredible,” said Bill Jones, United Way President and CEO. “This generosity means that more children, families, and others in need, will have access to services that will improve lives and strengthen the Berwick community.”
