Brad Berryman

Chief Nuclear Officer

Brad Berryman serves Talen Energy as its senior vice president and Chief Nuclear Officer, responsible for the Susquehanna nuclear power plant, a two-unit, 2,500 megawatt facility in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Berryman joined Susquehanna in early 2017 in the role of site vice president for Susquehanna Nuclear, LLC. In this role he was responsible for all plant operations and personnel. During his tenure as site vice president, Mr. Berryman was central to the Susquehanna plant’s performance improvement in the areas of operations, finance and safety, leading the plant from third quartile to top decile performance and rankings. He was appointed Chief Nuclear Officer in September 2018.

With more than two decades of extensive commercial nuclear experience, Mr. Berryman has held positions of increasing importance spanning various technical, operational, training and financial capacities. Prior to joining the Company, he served as station director at NextEra Energy Resources’ Turkey Point Nuclear Power Station, a dual unit Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) site in Homestead, Fla. Prior to his work at Turkey Point, Mr. Berryman served as vice president of site operations and general plant manager at Arizona Public Service’s Palo Verde Station, the nation’s largest power station with three pressurized water reactors (PWRs) able to generate more than 3.3 gigawatts of electricity in total. Mr. Berryman was promoted to that position from business director, facilitating long range equipment plans, managing capital, operations and maintenance budgets. He was responsible for the well-being of nearly 1,500 team members while helping to improve Palo Verde’s capacity factor, outage performance, and returning Palo Verde to an industry rating of “Excellence.”

He began his nuclear career at Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO), investing a decade of service there. He rose successfully from shift manager/control room supervisor through the ranks of refueling outage manager, work management manager, and operations manager to general manager of plant operations before joining Palo Verde.

Mr. Berryman served in the U.S. Navy for six years as part of the submarine fast attack fleet. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas, earning a bachelor of science degree with honors in Organizational Management.
