With the recent coronavirus outbreak, the health and safety of our employees, industry partners and communities remains Talen and Susquehanna Nuclear’s primary focus. Given the nature of our business, the company maintains robust plans and contingencies to ensure we are prepared to operate safely and reliably to provide essential power to the grid when faced with challenges including a public health crisis. These plans incorporate input from a variety of stakeholders including county officials, PEMA, PA Department of Health and the NRC.

Ahead of and throughout this developing situation, our team has been in regular communication with these stakeholders and other public officials, and is also following government mandates and support advice from the CDC to maintain the health and safety of our employees, contractors and community. As part of our plan, we have instituted additional proactive measures including conducting regular health screenings as a prerequisite to site access, increased cleaning and sanitation throughout the station, employment of a supplemental team of on-site health professionals and contingency measures in the event quarantine is necessary.

We will continue to monitor the situation, consult with local, state and federal officials, and comply with any further guidance that is generated as part of this ever-changing situation.
