U.S. Women in Nuclear

U.S. Women in Nuclear (U.S. WIN) is a network of more than 7,300 women and men who work in nuclear- and radiation-related fields around the country. The mission is to support an environment in nuclear energy and nuclear technologies in which women and men are able to succeed; help women in these fields further their professional development and provide an organized association through which the public is informed about nuclear energy and nuclear technologies. U.S. WIN is an affiliate of Women in Nuclear Global (WIN Global), which has 3,800 members in 94 countries.

Talen Energy‘s chapter has approximately 60 members, including employees and vendors Scientech and Day & Zimmermann. Chapter members are involved at the local, regional and national levels of the U.S. WIN organization by serving on committees and participating in professional development, networking and outreach opportunities.

The Susquehanna chapter participates in science and career fairs with local school districts, facilitates professional development webinars and organizes school supply drives and other community outreach. The chapter has recently placed greater emphasis on collaborating with the North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NA-YGN) and American Nuclear Society (ANS) chapters to enhance our collective impact on our station, our communities and our industry.

North American Young Generation in Nuclear

North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) unites young professionals who believe in nuclear science and technology and are working together throughout North America to share their passion for a field that makes valuable contributions to society.

The Susquehanna chapter meets monthly to develop strategies to achieve the following goals:

  • To encourage the public understanding of nuclear science and engineering;
  • To foster closer professional and personal relations among the members;
  • To cooperate with other scientific and professional groups that have similar objectives;
  • To engage in other activities related to company objectives; and
  • To stimulate membership growth and participation by encouraging the creation of chapters at locations throughout North America.

American Nuclear Society

Talen Energy’s Susquehanna Nuclear, LLC, is home to one of the longest-running American Nuclear Society (ANS) chapters in America – the Northern Pennsylvania Section.

Throughout the year, ANS hosts a series of events to bring members together, create development opportunities and connect Susquehanna to the local community.
